Yann Arthus Bertrand's Home Screening at Trafalgar Square

In celebration, there is a special event taking place June 5th 2009 in London's Trafalgar Square.  Yann Arthus Bertrand, noted photographer and founding President, GoodPlanet.org, and UNEP Goodwill ambassador will be presenting the world premiere of his documentary HOME.  Showings will take place at Noon and 7:30 this evening.

Apple has the unique privilege of being the sole advertiser minutes prior to this screening.  Naturally, this is an incredible opportunity to to convey our commitment to this cause and we will utilize it to share how our highly recyclable, more energy-efficient MacBook family has been designed with the environment in mind.

We invite you to let friends, family and colleagues know about this event in case they might attend in person.  Alternatively, you can direct them to a free HOME podcast available on iTunes in all countries ( including France where it is currently at number 1).

A message from Yann Arthus Bertrand, director of HOME:

We are living in exceptional times.  Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, to avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.  The stakes are high for us and our children.  We have no time to lose.  I have been nurturing this film for more than 15 years.  What I saw and learnt as I flew over the Earth has changed me forever.  Today I want to share what I have experienced throughout these journeys.  I believe that we have the collective wisdom to find a solution.  The film will be aired for free on June 5 - World Environment Day - on the internet, on TV and in thousands of cities around the world.  I would like this movie to become your movie.  Share it and act!

Thanks for your support and we hope you can find inspiration from this day and the documentary.

Best.

About HOME

In 200, 000 years, humans have disrupted the fragile balance on which Earth was living for 4 billion years. Global warming, shortage of resources, endangered species: humans are jeopardizing their own living conditions. By the end of the century, the relentless consumption will have exhausted almost all of our planet’s natural resources. But it is too late to be pessimistic: we have barely 10 years left to reverse the trend. We need to become aware of our abusive exploitation of Earth’s gifts and change our way of life.

HOME is a travel notebook, showing landscapes captured from a bird’s eye view above. This film calls for a new awareness, inviting the viewer to stop for a moment in order to look at our planet and realize how we treat her treasures and her beauty
